  • Romilly -

Historically, Romilly derives its name from a Roman named Romulus who came live in the region. Voltaire died there before his body was recovered. He had fled the wrath of the Vatican for daring to tell the truth and he took refuge with the head of the abbey, a member of his family.

Near the cemetery stands a cross current, the place was once a place of worship Gallo-Roman, which are no remnant (if not by some perceptible traces archaeologists near the current cemetery). Between this and the current cross cemetery was located a Gallo-Roman cemetery.
