Office du Tourisme: - Boulevard Violet, Thuir. Tel: 04 68 53 45 86

Thuir, located some kilometres away from Perpignan and Ille-sur-Tet, is above all the capital of Aspres. This city is especially known all over the world for its aperitif "Byrrh". But it is not the only drink prepared in this city by the establishments Cusenier, because it is also the domain of "the Ambassador", "the Cinzano, and the Dubonnet".

Thuir is also a medieval city with a particular atmosphere where you will discover the relics of the past (ramparts in ruin, old alleys with pink stony houses, towers...). Something absolutely to see is the church Notre-dame, in Romanic style and its wonderful Virgin from the twelfth century, which is covered with precious stones. Two museums are recommended in Thuir: the museum of the Arts and Traditions situated on the place of the Town hall and the museum Nature et Chasse which is on the Boulevard Violet. Near from that, do not miss to go and have a look at the village of Castelnou, classified among "the most beautiful villages in France".
