How did I get to star in "Persian Girls"?
I did mention in my details that I have some Iranian blood in me. I will take this opportunity to enlarge on my family generally.
My maternal grandfather was from Barcelona (hence the tie-in with my half-cousin Maria - LEFT) and my grandmother is Greco-Italian, making the connection with Aunt Sophia (actress Sophia Milos - RIGHT - who stars in CSI Miami, amongst others). My paternal grandfather (another David) was born in 1922 in the Rhonda Valley, Wales. He entered the Royal Air Force during the Second World War and served in Korea also. During the late forties, he was based in Bangkok and fathered a daughter named Gai (meaning "chicken"). Their daughter was the Pen who is on our Spacegirls site. I guess she is a kind of illegitimate second cousin to me. |
After Thailand, he served in many parts of the Middle East. During a spell in Aden, he met my grandmother, Ishtar, who was working there, born in a village close to Tehran in 1929 but spending most of her early life in Armenia.So my grandmother, still living in Ferndown, Dorset, is pure Persian (Iranian). Interestingly, her nephew runs a Kebab shop just down from Brixton Station in London. My father's brother, Trevor, lives in Wimborne Minster and his sister, Valerie, lives near Blandford Forum, quite close to Madonna's country estate. Although both my parents are dead, all four of my grandparents are still living. My mother's parents lived in Foix till they died last year.
